What To Expect

All visitors will go first to the Maywood Public Library at 121 S. 5th Avenue either to pay for their entrance to the event, or to show the ticket they purchased online or in person prior to the event.  Visitors will receive a bracelet and a program guide, which give access to the trolleys and homes on the tour.

It is not necessary to use the trolleys to reach the homes on this year's slate, but it is fun! The trolleys function primarily as shuttles to the homes on the route, and will circulate the route on a regular basis.  You will also learn some history about Maywood along the way, and have a chance to have a friendly chat with fellow passengers, many of whom will be Maywoodians who love their home town.

Once visitors arrive at a home, they will be greeted by volunteer docents who will ask to see the event bracelet for each visitor prior to entry to the home.  Visitors will be invited into the home in small groups of 4-8 individuals, depending upon the instructions provided by the docent.  Only designated areas on the 1st floor of the home will be available for viewing, and visitors must be accompanied by a docent at all times.

Some homeowners may actually be present during your visit.  Be sure to greet them and thank them for their generosity in allowing their home to be on this year's tour.  They have worked hard to make their homes beautiful for your visit, and the entire effort is voluntary.
